Music is a key element of worship at Mullins United Methodist Church.

Chancel Choir is a great choice for anyone who loves music and wishes to praise God through singing. We serve as part of the team which facilitates worship at Mullins UMC. No audition is required for membership, and we welcome all voice parts!  We are a friendly group, consisting entirely of volunteers of many ages and occupations. We prepare and present sacred and inspirational music drawn from the broad range of the Church’s musical heritage.  Chancel Choir generally sings weekly at the 10:50 a.m. Sunday worship service from September through early June, and occasionally for special church celebrations.

Chancel Choir rehearses on Wendesdays at 6:50pm in the choir room.  If you are interested in joining us, please contact the Mullins Director of Music Ministries, Tom Machen, 901-685-8253.

The Mullins Ringers Handbell Choir is a warm and welcoming group. Some of our members are relatively new to ringing handbells, while others have been ringing bells for many years. Mullins is fortunate to own 4 octaves of Schulmeric handbells and three octaves of handchimes. In pre-pandemic times, our bell choir has participated in area handbell festivals, occasionally performed at a special events in the community, and rang special music in worship 4 – 6 times a year.

Bell choir members currently meet on an ad-hoc basis for special seasons of the church year, learning music for 8-12 bells for a group of 3 rehearsals as ringers are available.

From 2016 – 2020, Mullins hosted the annual River City Ring Handbell Festival, held on the first weekend in March. This festival is run by the West Tennessee Handbell Association, and brings together several handbell choirs from around the region for massed ringing and workshops with a guest clinician. More information about this organization and the festival can be found at The 2021 and 2022 festivals were cancelled due to Covid-19, but we resumed in March 2023, rotating our location to Church of the Holy Communion, down the street from Mullins.

For more information about the Mullins Ringers, please contact André Duvall, Pianist/Organist and West TN Handbell Assocation member, at

In 2014, Mullins began presenting our SUMMER MUSIC SERIES. Musical guests feature special music in an array of musical offerings on selected Sunday mornings from late June through early August during the 10:50 worship service. We have hosted instrumentalists, vocalists, soloists and ensembles, and dancers.

 “Ministry through Music”

We invite anyone who plays an orchestral instrument to join us! We are also taking instrument donations. We currently have a cornet, a trumpet, a flute, a violin, a trombone, and an alto sax in our collection of loaner instruments, but we are always looking for more since some people don’t own their own horns but might still like to participate. We rehearse Thursdays at 6:00pm in the choir room.  For more information contact Kent Stratton at (901) 351-3208.

For the latest information, please call the church office during business hours, 9:00 am to 1:30 pm Monday through Thursday. The phone is 901-685-8253.
